Does God Forget Our Sins?

Short answer is YES, but why does he forget them and how does he do this?

In Hebrews 8:12, it is stated, "For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more." The basis for God's ability to forgive and forget our sins lies in the belief that, for those who are true reborn believers, God views us through the lens of Jesus and His sacrificial blood, rendering our sins as if they have never occurred. This passage is just one example among many that illustrates God's willingness to forget our shortcomings. The reason for this divine grace is straightforward: it is rooted in His love for us. The core message of the gospel centers on love—the love of God for humanity and the encouragement for us to extend that love to one another. As stated, "For God so loved the world." God chooses to forgive us and to distance us from our sins, as expressed in Psalm 103:12: "As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us." This is indeed uplifting news, as it emphasizes God's choice to not hold our sins against us even the most evil deeds a human can or will do.
